The Lyceum - Specialist Resource Provision (SRP)
UKAT, in partnership with Medway Council, is opening a Specialist Resourced Provision (SRP) for children who have a primary SEND diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and have passed the Medway or Kent Test (11+), at Chatham Grammar, opening in September 2026.
Some students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) require support that goes beyond what their mainstream or grammar school can provide using High Needs Funding. For these students, a place in either a special school or an SRP is necessary.
The SRP will be located at Chatham Grammar and offer dedicated teaching areas, specialist resources, and trained staff. These staff members have the expertise and qualifications to meet the specific needs of students—in this case, those with ASD. Students in the SRP take part in mainstream lessons and school life whenever possible, while also benefiting from specialist provision and having a safe, designated space when needed. This approach enables children to enjoy the advantages of an education within their community, while receiving tailored support.
