Student Careers Pathway Programme
As part of the Year 12 Careers Pathway Programme, students will be taking part in a structured programme designed to support their future education and career choices.
Throughout the year, students will be required to complete a range of online careers activities using the Springpod platform. These activities have been carefully selected to help students explore a variety of career pathways and develop a stronger understanding of their options after sixth form.
Springpod provides interactive online university taster courses, short careers insight programmes, and virtual work experience opportunities, all designed to support students’ career aspirations.
By completing these activities, students will gain certificates which can be used to support future applications to universities, colleges, apprenticeships, and employment. These certificates provide valuable evidence of career research, engagement, and commitment to personal development.
Students are required to upload completed certificates to their assigned Careers Pathway Teams groups. They will need to complete two tasks per term throughout Year 12, alongside continued attendance at careers pathway talks.
Full engagement with this programme is important, as it plays a key role in helping students make informed decisions about their next steps.
If you have any questions regarding the Careers Pathway Programme or Springpod activities, please do not hesitate to contact via email - SuzanneTaylor@ukat.org.
Further information and tasks will be shared with students via Microsoft Teams.
Student Resources
-
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service)
Is the centralised UK system for applying to higher education, acting as an independent charity that manages applications for most UK universities and colleges for undergraduate courses, providing a single platform for students to apply to multiple institutions with one application, personal statement, and fee. It also offers extensive guidance, information, and tools for researching courses, universities, student finance, and career paths, supporting students throughout their education journey.
-
An apprenticeship is a real job with a contract of employment, combining hands-on work with training, allowing your child to earn a salary while gaining nationally recognised qualifications. Lasting one to five years, apprenticeships cover over 1,500 roles in various industries, from intermediate to degree level, with no student debt.

Employer Engagement
The importance of employer engagement with our students cannot be overstated. We are proud to work with a large number of employers who help prepare our students for the world of work.
Through a variety of opportunities—such as careers events (Careers Fair, Apprenticeship talks, and university trips), the PSHE curriculum, guest speakers, mock interviews, and work experience placements—students engage directly with employers from private, public, and voluntary sectors.
These interactions provide invaluable benefits. Students:
Gain a clear understanding of the workplace and employer expectations.
Learn the importance of developing transferable employability skills.
Explore the wide range of opportunities available, including apprenticeships, internships, and scholarship programmes.
Build confidence, self-belief, and a stronger sense of their own career potential.
Understand the steps they need to take to pursue their chosen career.
Improve their chances of success in future applications and professional settings.
By drawing on the expertise of a diverse group of employers, we ensure that students leave equipped not just with knowledge, but with the skills, confidence, and insights needed to thrive in their future careers.
